WATCH: A car show like you’ve never seen

On Saturday, 24 April, the Caltex service station on Ruhamah Drive was host to the most unique car show many in Roodepoort have ever seen.

The parking area of the Caltex service station on Ruhamah Drive was packed with car and coffee enthusiasts alike for the Judgement Day Relapse Car Show on Saturday, 24 April.

According to the founder of Pure Venom Group, Kevin Stone, after a long period of planning with the owner of the Caltex service station, Pure Venom was able to host this unique car show in hopes of showing the Roodepoort community that not all drag racers are bad people. Making sure to leave big enough entry points to the filling stations, the car park was packed with unique cars and a few stalls for the attendees to enjoy while they bonded over their love of speed and sound. To fill any empty bellies, the service station also set up a boerewors roll and a coffee stand for attendees. Keeping all of the car enthusiasts entertained was the Via Action Pantsula Dance crew, who showed off their impressive moves while music blared in the background.

Pure Venom Group started hosting events in mid 2019, a year after they were founded, and has hosted 17 exciting events since. Kevin explained that he started Pure Venom as a car crew to bring together like-minded people who love their cars and the highest quality sound systems. Kevin represents the passion and uniqueness of Pure Venom perfectly with his horror-themed car and scooter. The dashboard of his car proudly houses fake severed limbs and other scary decorations while the outside is adorned with designs inspired by one of Stephen King’s many creepy creations, IT. Kevin named his Peugeot ‘Pennywise’ after the famous clown, having been a massive fan of IT since the first movie was released in 1990. Alongside Pennywise the car was Kevin’s scooter, Georgie, named after Pennywise’s first victim.

“It is not a requirement to have these types of themes on your vehicle; it is your own choice as the owner of the vehicle. We at Pure Venom Crew SA just like to bring out the best in every car show,” said Kevin.
