Singer and comedian Dowwe Dolla stops by Garden world on her final tour

Beloved Afrikaans singer and comedian, Dowwe Dolla had her final performance at Garden World in Muldersdrift on 23 May. The performance marked the conclusion of Dolla’s career as the 43-year-old looks to retire from performing. The comedian kicked off the show in song to a delighted and expectant audience.

Garden World’s communications officer, Corné Stemmet said Dowwe Dolla performed at Garden World in 2007. “She became a friend and today all her regular customers that always come and see her were here. It’s the end of an era for us and for the Afrikaans culture because of her character.” He added that the performance was one of her best shows ever. “Less of the politics but excellent. All her shows are good, but this was one of the best. She is going out with a bang.”

Dowwe Dolla’s set included her take on the country’s politics with her usual tongue-in-cheek flair. She also brought out her alter ego, ‘Ouma Dowwe Dolla’ an older woman with almost no filter, much to the delight of her loyal fans.

Dawie Britz said he enjoyed the show. “She was as good as always. We have seen her before but it is the first time at this venue.”
