Police are still searching for suspects wanted in connection with a heist on Ontdekkers Road on 26 May.
Shortly before 9am on Wednesday morning a Nissan NP200 belonging to a healthcare logistics company was being escorted by a white Volkswagen Polo along Ontdekkers Road. Near Hattingh Street, the courier vehicle was intercepted by a white Audi Q3 which blocked its target vehicle, bringing it to a standstill. Weapons were drawn on both vehicles, with the escort vehicle sustaining one gunshot while the courier vehicle was commandeered by the robbers.
The courier vehicle was then driven to the corner of Snell and Dunn Streets where the robbers unloaded the contents of the vehicle before making their escape. “The suspects offloaded 24 boxes of unknown contents and left two boxes at the back of the bakkie. The suspects then locked the complainant at the back of the bakkie and left the scene,” confirmed Florida Police spokesperson, Sergeant Mpho More.
Fortunately, none of the hijacking victims were injured, and police opened a case of hijacking and attempted murder at the Florida Police Station. The registration of the white Audi Q3 is unknown and police are asking anyone with additional information to please contact Florida Police as soon as possible.
