Welties author focuses on leadership, wealth, and philosophy
“I can remember being nine years old and staring at the terrifying covers of the Stephen King novels."
Douglas Kruger from Weltevreden Park is the author of 12 commercially published books, focusing on leadership, wealth, and philosophy.
The 40-year-old author is also a multiple award-winning professional speaker, who was inducted into the Speakers Hall of Fame in 2016.
In the business genre, he is the author of titles like, ‘Own Your Industry – How to Position Yourself as an Expert’; and ‘Poverty Proof: 50 Ways to Train Your Brain for Wealth’; while in the field of philosophy he is the author of ‘Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good’.
“I can remember being nine years old and staring at the terrifying covers of the Stephen King novels.
“That was in the horror section at CNA on Goldman Street. The first novel I ever read came from there, it was mystery, and I wanted to be an author ever since.
“I did a 20-year detour into a speaking career, but discovered that writing and speaking go well together. I’ve just now had my first big break in fiction – my first novel comes out next year,” said Douglas.

He has written a variety of books. Ten of them were business titles for Penguin, including bestsellers like ‘Own Your Industry,’ and ‘Poverty Proof.’
Last year he had a complete departure and his first political book was published in the US, with the controversial title: ‘Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good’.
“The audio version of that book is doing well in SA, I actually read it to tape for audible. This year, Penguin accepted my first novel, the first of many, I hope,” said Douglas.
He has an author page on Amazon that lists all 12 of his books and they all appear on audible.
“Essentially, I have 11 business books, one political book, and one upcoming novel. My favourite title is ’They’re Your Rules, Break Them’, and my best-selling book is ‘Is Your Thinking Keeping You Poor?” explained Douglas.
