Fourteen injured in double taxi collision

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find 14 people injured in a taxi collision this morning.

Two minibus taxis collided on Sovereign Road in Wilgeheuwel on Tuesday, 1 June. ER24 paramedics responded to the scene and found passengers sitting on the side of the road. It is unclear what caused the accident but officials found the two taxis in the middle of the road.

ER24 communications officer, Russel Meiring said, “Medics assessed the patients and found that 14 people had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately no serious injuries or fatalities were found.”

Patients were treated on the scene before being transported to neighbouring hospitals for further assistance.

Motorists are reminded to keep a safe following distance when driving, especially on wet roads, and to keep their headlights on.
