WARNING 1 JUNE: The Berg Shopping Centre closed due to continued protest

Protesters believed to be members of the Economic Freedom Fighters have set up barricades at the entrance of The Berg Shopping Centre blocking all access points.

The protests are linked to a labour dispute with the retail supermarket in the centre.

Tyres were set alight outside the entrances along Bergbron Drive well before standard trading hours on Tuesday morning and as of 12.30pm the centre was still closed.

Residents have been prevented from accessing the medical facility, pharmacy and all other stores as well as the relevant supermarket. All stakeholders have been contacted for comment and details will be published as soon as they are available.
