“They probably took R100 000 worth of stock,” said Willem van Rensburg following the burglary at his business in Rietfontein.
According to Van Rensburg, his manager arrived at the Supa Motor spares shop on Monday morning to find the back door completely broken down and the locks cut. Batteries, tyres, engine oils and electronics had all been stolen from the shop. The store owner said, “They were properly organised; they had vehicles to carry everything they had stolen, and crow bars. The alarm didn’t even go off, there wasn’t an alert.”

Van Rensburg said all the stolen stock is labelled and they are hoping that something will pop up in the area. He added that cash of between R1 000 and R2 000 was also stolen from the register, along with control boxes and the camera system. The shop, which has been operating in Rietfontein for four years, remains closed as they take stock and assess the damage.
