Police confirm arrest for attempted robbery in Witpoortjie

Spokesperson for the Diepsloot Police Station, on standby for the Roodepoort area, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, has now confirmed the arrest of a suspect allegedly involved in the robbery of local home industry. 

The beloved Witpoortjie home industry, Koek ‘N Loer, was reportedly the target of an armed robbery shortly before midday today, 5 June. 

A spokesperson for the Diepsloot Police Station, on standby for the Roodepoort area, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, initially reported that no arrests had been made, but updated information confirms the arrest of a 31-year-old male. 

MSR Security Group’s initial arrest information was correct.  The responding security company said that two vehicles were involved in the armed robbery and one suspect was apprehended. Roodepoort Police were reportedly also on scene for statements.  

According to MSR, the suspect disclosed information regarding the two vehicles allegedly used in the incident. MSR has advised residents to be aware of two Golf Mk1’s, one in black and one in white.
