Mr and Miss Just In Time – entries open for all ages
Entries are now open for the Just In Time Baby Sanctuary's Mr and Miss pageant and the competition is open to anyone.
The Roodepoort community was introduced to Just In Time Baby Sanctuary just over a month ago when they moved from Randfontein to Discovery. While there were a few reasons for the move, Just In Time chose Roodepoort as their new home hoping to fill the need for a baby box in the area.
As a non-profit organisation (NPO) they rely on community members to help them cover their costs so that they can keep providing a place of safety to the children in their care. The organisation was started just over five years ago by Georgina Caetano, and in that short time, the sanctuary has provided a loving home for 40 children. Right now, Georgina and her team are fostering four children and providing a place of safety for another four. With eight little mouths to feed and a new building to turn into a home (not to mention the costs needed to cover the manufacture of a baby box), finances are always needed.
Hoping to raise some money for their sanctuary, Just In Time will be hosting a fundraising pageant that they have dubbed ‘Mr and Miss Just In Time’. The pageant has been split into a few age categories – from less than a year old to over 18 years old – and there will be some amazing prizes for each of the winners.
The pageant will be held on Saturday, 10 July at the Arto Theatre in Pretoria. Junior registration is from 9am to 9.30am, and registration for the senior categories will be from 1pm to 1.30pm. Cost for entry is R400, but R450 for the photogenic category. If you would like to spectate the event, there will be an entrance fee of R60. Any boys 13 years or older are considered to be in the senior category. Women over the age of 18 will compete in the ‘Mrs’ category.
The competition is open to anyone, whether you are a part of a modelling agency or not, and the deadline for entries is 8 July. Time slots will be allocated according to each age category. Please note, no make-up is allowed for entrants between 0 and 11 years old.
