Nominate your favourite cat shelter

Nominate an ethically run cat shelter to receive a helping hand in sterilising their cats

The Society for Animals in Distress (SAID) is calling all cat lovers to nominate their favourite or most deserving cat shelter to receive free sterilisation for all their animals. This was initiated to assist local organisations that struggle with sterilising their rescues.

Outreach manager at SAID, Marizda Kruger said they were looking at shelters that could produce the biggest impact regarding the number of cats that could be sterilised. “We decided to allocate funds to cats specifically due to the massive rate at which they breed. One cat can become 36 cats in just over a year,” Kruger explained.

She said their action date is August, and although they have begun their screening process, nominations will remain open until June 30. They plan to sterilise 200 cats in two weeks. “We have a mobile veterinary team that are able to set up an operating theatre within hours and sterilise the animals on site,” Marizda added.
