One dead and five others injured in horror crash
A collision between four vehicles on Ontdekkers Road has left one dead and five others injured.
A midday commute turned into a horror show for six people when the four vehicles they were traveling in, collided on Ontdekkers Road between Louis Street and Christiaan De Wet Road.
Emergency Control South Africa (ECSA) reported receiving the call at 12:01 midday today, June 19. Several emergency services and security groups were on scene, along with local police.
Abby Janse van Rensburg of ECSA explained that when they arrived on scene, they found two people had been entrapped inside a white Ford Bantam bakkie. The patients reportedly needed to be cut out of the vehicle by City of Joburg EMS.
Four of the people involved, thankfully only sustained minor injuries, including the female passenger of the bakkie. Sadly, the driver of the bakkie succumbed to his injuries and died on scene.
ECSA reported that ER24 treated the sixth patient’s injuries on scene before transporting the patient to hospital for further treatment.
Details surrounding the incident are still being investigated by local police.
