Courier drivers are often attacked or robbed while making deliveries or receiving goods. Criminals often ambush them outside business premises or residential complexes while waiting at the gate. The victims are often quickly surrounded by numerous thugs or blocked off by a getaway vehicle.
The Honeydew CPF gave the following general tips:
• Please be careful when accepting a delivery. The criminals don’t care who is delivering or accepting the goods they want.
• Be aware of your surroundings; take note of someone or a vehicle scouting your area. Don’t let your guard down.
• Most courier services use fully branded vehicles. If there is another vehicle nearby that doesn’t have branding or is simply acting suspicious, stay in your house and alert the police or security company.
• If an incident does occur, get out of the danger area. Get in the house, lock your doors and call the police.
