Good cause for some furry paws

Brenda, who has been an avid dog lover all her life, recently came up with the initiative to support a local shelter.

If you are an animal lover you know it’s impossible to ignore the plight of unwanted four-legged furry friends. This was exactly the case for Brenda Erasmus from Value Vet Supplies – suppliers of pet and pet related products. She decided to act on the plight of unwanted pets.

Brenda, who has been an avid dog lover all her life, recently came up with the initiative to support a local shelter with the help of their customers and anyone who is willing to support the cause.

“I knew we had to help, but first we had to identify where the biggest need was. So we put up a suggestion box in middle May, and each customer had the opportunity to vote for their shelter of choice – one they thought would benefit most,” she explained.

They looked at all the suggestions at the end of June.

“Most people voted for Fora, so we decided to support them. We thank everyone who contributed to this decision, and want to encourage all customers as well as the general public to support the cause,” Brenda said.

They are really in need of the following:

  • Dry food
  • Tin food
  • Blankets
  • Cleaning supplies (bleach, pine gel, garbage bags, brooms, mops, toilet paper and paper towels)
  • Newspapers
  • Clay cat litter

“We know times are tough, but no donation is too small. Every little bit helps; for the sake of the unwanted cats and dogs,” she concluded.

If you want to support the cause, please feel free to drop off any donations at Value Vet Supplies, situated at 819 Corlett Avenue, Roodepoort.
