Clearwater adapts additional security measures
“We have not had any incidents today and the situation will be reviewed tomorrow,”
On Monday, July 12 Clearwater Mall released a statement on their Facebook page that the centre management was aware of the occurrence of violent incidents across the country and during this time the safety of shoppers, store staff and centre staff remains a priority.
They have adapted additional security measures and will continue to work closely with the police and their security service provider to ensure the safety of all stakeholders.
Clearwater Mall Marketing Manager, Jess Denner confirmed to the Northsider that the centre closed at 5pm yesterday (12 July) so that all staff were able to travel home safely.
“We have not had any incidents and the situation will be reviewed tomorrow,” said Jenner.
In Johannesburg it was reported that shops and businesses were looted overnight, and a section of a highway was closed while stick-wielding protesters marched through the city on Sunday, July 11 after violence erupted following the imprisonment of former South African president Jacob Zuma.
