Vagrants begging at almost every traffic light in and around the Kloofendal community have raised concerns among residents who now fear for their safety and well-being.
The issue of vagrants harassing the Kloofendal community and, especially those in Topaz Avenue, Marble Crescent, Galena Avenue and Veronica Street, was addressed on Friday, July 23 with a joint clean-up operation.

The properties bordering the greenbelts have been the most affected by the problematic vagrant activity that is said to originate from the informal camp next to Christiaan de Wet Road at the corner of Jim Fouché Road and spills onto the greenbelt area.
On the day teams from Beagle Watch Armed Response, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) and City Parks arrived in large numbers to clean up the area.

“We believe this initiative will go a long way towards reducing crime levels in the area. We will continue to monitor the situation and the area,” said Beagle Watch Armed Response Managing Director, André Aiton.
