The six people accused of playing a role in the Zandspruit mob justice incident appeared briefly in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on Friday, August 6.
Tebogo Mabula, Mziwamangware Witbooi, Njabulo Zwane, Phakisa Tsengiwe, Maxwell Mpofu, and Klaas Masemola have been charged with a Schedule 6 offence.

According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) regional spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, the matter was once again postponed for further investigations.
“The matter was set for a bail application hearing, but unfortunately it was postponed as court orderlies were in isolation. The next court date is set for Wednesday, August 18,” said Mjonondwane.
On Wednesday, May 19 four men were killed and five others critically injured in an alleged mob justice incident in Zandspruit.
Nine young men were set on fire by an angry mob who claimed that they were tired of their community being victimised.

Medics found nine men bound, lying in the middle of the field near a smouldering tyre, with a large gathering of community members circling the area.
After assessing the men, medics found that four had already succumbed to their numerous burn wounds, and four more later died in hospital.
