Lions Club acknowledge dedicated members
A few Lions were pleasantly surprised when their names were called out.
On Tuesday, August 17 the Lions Club of Wilro Park hosted their monthly business meeting at the Wilro Park Community Centre.
The evening commenced when Wilro Lions President, Sandy van Heerden called all attendees to order. After a few formalities, all relevant Lions reported on their respective divisions which included a Secretary’s report, Public Relations Report and Treasurer’s Report.

A few Lions were pleasantly surprised when their names were called out half way into the meeting to receive an award.
Lions Irene Mann, Suzie Jordaan, Susan Labuschagne and Magdel Breytenbach were all recipients of well-deserved awards for their dedication within the club.

Past District Governor Bernd Gerhard were also acknowledged when he received a Membership Growth Diamond Centennial Award.
“Lions Club’s International Foundation is the world’s most recognised foundation. The mission is to support the efforts of Lions clubs and partners in serving communities locally and globally, giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants,” Lion Bernd said.

“Lions Share Awards are tools of recognising individual Lions members and non-Lions for their contributions to serving the community. The money used to purchase such an award is channelled to the foundation for use towards serving needs within the community.”

After the meeting, the Lions enjoyed each other’s company over some delicious home-made snacks and coffee. Their next meeting is expected to take place on Tuesday, September 21.
