ActionSA to host blood drive at Westgate this weekend
Donating blood is a vital contribution to the nation's healthcare system
The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) in conjunction with ActionSA are hosting a blood drive at Westgate Super Regional Mall, October 2.
The blood drive will begin at 11:00 at Westgate’s rooftop entrance adjacent to the SANBS branch. “I think it is important to show the community that we take action, and what better way than to donate some blood. By donating blood you can potentially save three lives so take action, it is the right thing to do,” said organiser and ActionSA Ward 85 candidate, Elmari Atterbury-Nell.
SANBS aims to collect an average of 3 000 units of blood every day nationally. It is through planned, sustainable blood drives at companies, organisations and institutions that they are able to achieve this collection target. Blood drives give donors the opportunity to become involved in making a difference to others in a convenient way. Blood drives are used by many companies as a Corporate Social Investment activity to show that they are actively involved in impacting on the lives of their community, and each blood donation contributes significantly to the country’s healthcare system.
