Keegan Antonio Perreira, 25, ANC local government elections candidate councillor for Ward 83, recently answered questions regarding the upcoming elections.

Q: What would you do differently to the current ward councillor?
A: I’d promote fairness and equality, give direction and provide opportunities for youth.
Q: How have you been involved in the community?
A: I’ve been involved in the community by assisting homeless with various types of soup kitchens and clothing donations among other things.
Q: What past experiences make you uniquely qualified for this role?
A: I’ve been a young man in business and know the struggles of youth empowerment; I have organisational and communication skills; and I promote equality and transparency.
Q: What is your vision for your ward?
A: My vision for the ward is to empower the youth, establish more youth-owned business, create platforms for all opportunities, and help the needy and elderly in our community.
Q: How do you feel this vision can be achieved?
A: By working hand in hand with community support and resources from within government
Q: How does your party mirror your personal beliefs?
A: We as the young of the ANC are here to bring commitment, change and fairness for all.
Q: In 50 words or less, tell the residents of your ward why they should vote for you.
A: The residents of my community shouldn’t vote for the party behind me, but for the change I’ll bring for our youth and businesses. I stand for kindness, equality, job creation and liberation.
