Sables Mini Interdistrict Challenge bowls over the competition
Selectors scout for emerging talent as youth, men, and women bowlers battle across 15 ends in Florida North and Discovery.
Bowling action and camaraderie took centre stage at Sables’ annual Mini Interdistrict Challenge held from October 17 to 18.
Hosted at Discovery and Florida North bowling clubs, the event welcomed players from Sables, Mpumalanga, North West, Bowls Gauteng North, Limpopo and youth teams, creating an atmosphere of friendly rivalry and a shared passion for the sport.

Talent on display
The youth teams and men took the greens at Discovery, where players demonstrated their abilities and determination throughout the challenge, while Florida North played host to the ladies from all teams.

Teams in the two-day tournament played 15 ends.
According to Sables technical committee member David Parker, the tournament is designed to expose young players to competitive action and create opportunities for growth, while giving experienced players a platform to prepare for more prestigious fixtures.

Parker added that the event also allows selectors to scout for talent, while providing players with a chance to network and build strong relationships.
The event concluded with the spirit of friendship and sporting excellence firmly at its heart, and bragging rights for winning teams.
