Care packages for Honeydew Police
The care packages were put together to show appreciation and support for the police.
Residents and community members who make up the Rebuild SA West Rand put together care packages for the men and women in blue in Honeydew. The aim was to show appreciation and support for the police, particularly after the wave of looting and unrests in July.
Carolyn Lanzillotti, secretary of the Honeydew Sector 3 CPF said the care packages included coffee, a few sweet treats and masks, among other things. “It’s just to say thank you for everything you have done and been through with the looting. I know it didn’t really happen locally but it could have been, and we just want to thank you for being such heroes.”
The care packages were handed to the members at the Honeydew Police Station, and others were given to security and car guards at shopping centres in the area.
Captain Karen Jacobs said, “We would like to thank the Honeydew Sector 3 CPF for this great initiative. It’s not very often that the community appreciates the police, but this gesture makes all the members feel good and positive. It really means a lot to us.”
