Nine spaniels need to find forever homes

Nine spaniels that were removed from a breeder are seeking new forever homes. If you want to adopt check out these cute faces.

Spaniel Rescue South Africa is urgently looking to re-home nine dogs.

They have removed four of the dogs and are in the process of fetching the other five from a breeder. So far there are three males and one female, and they are all between the ages of two, and four and a half years.

So happy to be pampered.

Apart from never being groomed the dogs look like they are in a good condition, but each will be thoroughly checked before they go to their new forever families.

Mandy Robinson has been running Spaniel Rescue in Ruimsig for the past 11 years. She has die-hard fans but generally runs the organisation on very little support.

Julie du Preez, owner of City Pets in Wilro Park who is helping to find homes for the dogs, said they seemed well-socialised and should get along well with others, although they are not used to cats.

Another happy customer.

They will require regular grooming and exercise, and should be able to sleep indoors. She suggested that one should have knowledge of these breeds before considering to adopt one of the spaniels as they are all thoroughbreds.

You do not need a huge garden but preferably a secure one.

The process to take one of these fluffy bundles of love home is easy. Contact 078 305 6922 to get the forms that need to be completed. A home check will then be done to see if the space is right for these pups.

Poppet from CLAW is also looking for a good home.

The adoption will cost R900 and includes sterilisation, vaccinations, de-worming and a microchip.

Julie explained that she usually helps organisations with their animals and encourages the communities to assist other rescue organisations like the Nordic Rescue SA and CLAW as well.

Even if you are not able to adopt one of these dogs you can assist by donating funds for food and vet bills, donating food, telling others about the organisations, sponsoring tick and flea treatments, or fundraising. She added that you can even become a foster parent, and said some people cannot adopt but they can become a temporary foster parent.
