Thirteen police stations conduct crime-awareness campaigns

The campaign was directed at young people and how they can avoid criminal activity.

On Tuesday, October 12 Social Crime Prevention coordinators and communication officers from 13 police stations in the West Rand District visited Muldersdrift policing precinct to educate the youth and community at large about factors that could lead to criminal activities. The campaign also included how those factors could be avoided to minimise the risk of crime.

Muldersdrift Police’s communications officer, Sergeant Mulalo Ndou said, “The awareness campaign started at Plot 7 Rhinosterspruit in Muldersdrift where we engaged with residents by distributing flyers with safety tips on how to avoid getting involved in drugs and substance abuse. “

The group then proceeded to Joe Slovo informal settlement where the community was addressed on ongoing house and business robberies, business burglary, gender-based violence, housebreaking and murder.

“Break the silence and report crime to the police immediately by calling the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or SMS number 32211, or alternatively communicate via the My SAPS app which can be downloaded from any smartphone, and remain anonymous,” Ndou shared.
