11 suspects arrested after failed business robbery
Zeiss, Taylor and Zephania roads have reopened after police arrested 11 suspects linked to an alleged business robbery. Police processed six crime scenes.
A co-ordinated response by private security companies and the police led to the arrest of 11 suspects following an alleged business robbery in Laser Park on the morning of August 5.
According to Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) public relations officer Michael Steyn, private security teams were alerted to an armed robbery at a business near Zeiss Road shortly after 10:00.
Members of the Honeydew Emergency Security Network responded immediately.
Nine suspects travelling in one of the getaway trucks were arrested by GP Tactical with assistance from an EC Reaction officer.
Two additional suspects were later arrested in Zandspruit after fleeing the scene in another vehicle, bringing the total number of arrests to 11.

Police recovered one firearm during the operation, along with a substantial quantity of stock allegedly stolen during the robbery.
A third truck carrying stolen goods reportedly escaped before responders were alerted to the incident.
During the operation, the suspects allegedly opened fire on responding security officers, injuring two EC Reaction officers.
A member of the public was also shot after the suspects allegedly hijacked a bakkie at the corner of Taylor and Johan roads while attempting to flee.
Steyn commended the swift, co-ordinated response by private security companies and police, saying the arrests demonstrate the effectiveness of collaboration between law enforcement and the private security sector.
Police investigations into the alleged business robbery and related offences are ongoing.
