On Thursday, November 4 The Electoral Commission (IEC) officially announced the final results of the 2021 municipal elections.
You have made your mark on November 1 and, as the majority vote would have it, most of Roodepoort Region C’s ward councillors have been re-elected. Though two of the wards will welcome new faces, all councillors remain members of the DA.
Ward councillors will represent residents in a particular ward in the City of Johannesburg. From leaking water pipes to market days, your ward councillor will more than likely know what is going on in your neighbourhood.
Even though they have not been officially inaugurated as of yet, they are as follows:
• Ward 70 – Caleb Finn (Florida, Florida Hills, Florida North, Florida Park, Florida Lake, Fleurhof, Robertville, Consolidated Main Reef Gold Mine and Rand leases Gold Mine)
• Ward 71 – René Benjamin (Witpoortjie, Lindhaven, Grobler Park Ext 76, 1, 79 and 55, Princess, Princess A.H., Batavia, Culembeeck, Roodepoort West Ext 4, Reefhaven (Hammer Street) and Davidsonville)
• Ward 83 – Florence Roberts (Roodekrans, Wilro Park, Helderkruin and Breaunanda)
• Ward 84 – Johannes Goosen (Manufacta, Reefhaven, Horison, Roodepoort Central, Roodepoort North, Discovery, Georgina, Hamberg, Selwyn and Florida Lake)
• Ward 85 – Zoné Niemand (Princess, Grobler Park Ext 49, part of Lindhaven, Carenvale, Horizon View, Ontdekkers Park, Kloofendal, Constantia Kloof, Horison Park and Floracliffe)
Even though Johannes and Zoné are newly elected ward councillors, they are eager to serve their wards and its communities.
