Two house fires in one day in the Honeydew area

The CPF responded to two separate house in one day.

Members of the Honeydew CPF responded to a call of a house fire in Weltevreden Park on January 2. According to Michael Steyn, spokesperson for the Honeydew CPF, members from Fire Ops SA and City of Joburg EMS responded swiftly to the scene and quickly put the fire out.

A couple of hours later, they were dispatched to another house fire, this time in Sovereign Road in Wilgeheuwel. “On arrival we found members from the Community Group Fire fighter Association and City of Joburg EMS damping down the house. Unfortunately, there was a lot of damage to the property,” Steyn said. “Emergency services were also on the scene to assist with medical care. One patient was transported to the hospital.”

The cause of both fires has not been revealed, however, members from JMPD and Honeydew Police were on the scene and are investigating the matter.
