The former Allen Glen High School matrics were in high spirits on the morning of January 21 as they collected their results. The class of 2021 was visibly relieved, and squeals of excitement could be heard as former class mates were reunited once more.

Deputy principal, Leon du Toit said, “There’s just a sense of accomplishment when they actually get their matric results and you know they are starting the next phase of their lives. We have to make mention of how well they’ve done considering all the challenges we had. We had numerous staff members off with Covid, and at one stage the matrics themselves had to isolate.

Considering everything, we actually did exceptionally well and we are proud of them.” Du Toit said the lessons he hoped they would take from the school were “… perseverance and adaptability because life and Covid threw a lot of challenges their way. I think the one thing they can take with them is not to get derailed at the slightest hint of trouble. If they apply that at varsity or wherever they will go, it will keep them steady.”

Abigail Kyle shared that she wanted to be an emergency medical technician. “I am really interested in helping people; it is not for personal gain. I am also a bit of a horror fan.” Caleb Mulenga said said he would be studying engineering or IT. Sharon-Rose Hanyane said she was going to study economics management at the University of Pretoria.
