On Tuesday, February 22 Nova Pioneer Ruimsig celebrated Twosday to mark the significance of the palindrome date.
Learners and staff were partnered with a twin for the day and had to dress up in matching colours.
In Literacy and Numeracy, learners learned about palindrome names, words and numbers.

They learned that palindrome words and numbers are the same when read backward and forwards.
Learners also worked in pairs to identify palindrome names and words while they also brought paired items from home that match or go together to present in Show and Tell.
Teachers created an opportunity during the day for the twins to sit together to discuss common interests and make new friends.
“It was heart-warming to see learners chatting so enthusiastically with their twins.

“We decided to celebrate this day as an opportunity to teach learners about palindromes, and to highlight the importance of partnerships and collaboration, which is so integral to our learning model.
“Dressing up as twins also created a sense of belonging and fostered school spirit,” said the Head of the School Carla Hercules.
Trinityhouse Little Falls and Crawford International Ruimsig also celebrated Twosday by dressing up in pairs in their attempt to promote the perfect level of engagement and academics.

The day is a palindrome date replete with ‘twos’ and happens to fall on a Tuesday. The internet is celebrating this perfect alignment, which will not occur again for another 400 years.
Tuesday is 2-22-22, which is not only a palindrome date, meaning it can be read the same both forward and backward, but also has the added value of being all twos.

It is also a palindrome date around the world, even in countries that may write dates in a different format.
