One of TKSWR’s top achievers shares his plans for the future

For the past 10 years or more school had been Jonathan Harvey’s world, cocooned in its safe embrace, locked in a bubble of certainty and security.
After the school bell rang for the last time, the world of adulthood and responsibility was looming large and he had to leave his comfort zone and start mapping his own path through life.
The Northsider sent a few questions to The King’s School West Rand’s 2021 head boy and one of the school’s top achievers, Jonathan Harvey.
The 18-year-old from Horison Park told the Northsider that he plans to begin his studies in Chemical Engineering at the University of Pretoria this year. He said full-time study is perfect for those who have a crystal-clear idea of what career they want to embark on.
When asked for a word of advice for the class of 2022, he did not hesitate to highlight that learners should always develop a good routine and stick to it throughout the year.
“Be dedicated and always give your best. I am happy that I have done so for the most part; however I didn’t achieve my goal. I am still incredibly grateful for everything my family, teachers and The King’s School West Rand have done to help me achieve what I did,” said Jonathan.
