WATCH: CPF patrollers respond to two cars on fire

Members of the Honeydew CPF and volunteer patrollers responded to two separate calls of vehicles having caught fire.

Members of the Honeydew CPF and volunteer patrollers responded to a call for assistance on Saturday February 26 on Beyers Naudé Drive. A bakkie had caught alight and was still burning.

Michael Steyn, communications officer for the CPF said the fire was caused by engine problems. “With great team work the fire was put out and no injuries were reported on the scene.”

Later in the day, patrollers were called out to another car fire. It seemed a BMW 1 Series was driving up Nic Diedrichs Road when he was flagged by another driver. “A car behind him started hooting and flagged him down as they saw flames coming from underneath the BMW,” Steyn explained.

The driver immediately pulled over and managed to exit the vehicle safely. City of Joburg EMS was called out to the scene and the fire was subsequently extinguished.
