Princess Primary School sends two athletes to provincial championships

Every dream of stardom starts out small.
From best in the Cluster to best in the District, two Princess Primary School learners are going to test themselves against the best in the province. Both track athletes, eight-year-old Thato Mosiale and 12-year-old Sihle Sithole will be taking the starting blocks with the hopes of their school on their backs. Thato is a speedy 80m sprinter while Sihle is an endurance specialist, shining in the 1 200m.

“We are very proud of both of them. It is great to see our athletes perform after the Covid interruptions of the last two years. It is great to have a boy and a girl going to the event, they are role models for everyone at the school. Hopefully next year we will have more but for now, we wish Thato and Sihle all the best,” said Princess Primary School’s Deputy Principal, Daniel Nkau.
Sihle can already see his name in lights, drawn to victory by the shouting of his name from the sidelines. “Train every day and don’t get down on yourself,” advised Sihle, who does laps of his neighbourhood to build stamina. “I love athletics so much,” said Thato, a young woman of few words.
Excited for the journey to the University of Johannesburg stadium, they leave knowing the whole school is behind them.
