Learner receives the Christian Character Award

“We look for a character that can be defined as to what makes a person distinct from others, often with a particular emphasis on moral qualities."

Christian-ethos schools can promote the autonomy of their learners in matters of religion while also providing character education that enables them to make good choices in life.

Agape Christian School Grade 7 learner Tino Makamure is very proud to have received the Christian Character Award which is awarded to a learner whose true character resides in the heart.

According to Tino, he has been wanting to win the trophy since Grade 1 and said it is the best trophy he could win in the school because it shows his Christian character. It also made him learn that God answers all prayers.

“We look for a character that can be defined as to what makes a person distinct from others, often with a particular emphasis on moral qualities,” said Theresa Jennings from Agape Christian School.

“When we think of a person who has good character, we often describe them with terms like integrity, honesty, strong moral fibre, care and concern for others.

“Character is demonstrated in actions, but true character resides in the heart. Tino has all these qualities.

“Christian character is lived out in the reverence for and respect for God, as opposed to simply honouring men.”
