Two officers from Honeydew Visible Policing are recovering from injuries after a shootout in Cosmo City.

Two officers from Honeydew Visible Policing are recovering from injuries after a shootout in Cosmo City. They were performing a routine investigation on March 29 when they were attacked and shot at.

According to a police report, the members were following up on information regarding the possession of an unlicensed firearm. They knocked on the suspect’s door and began questioning him. During the questioning the suspect fired a pistol at one of the members, injuring him.

A second police officer was injured by a window pane at the suspect’s house. Members of the police returned fire, injuring the suspect, who was subsequently arrested. He has been charged with attempted murder and is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court as soon as he has recovered from his injuries.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Dave Stanton said, “We remain dedicated to protecting and serving our communities. We always encourage people with any information on criminal activity to approach the police. Today’s events highlight our commitment to following up on and investigating all tips and anonymous information.”
