Those elected have formulated their plan and are now asking for the public to share their thoughts.
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is requesting the comments and input from stakeholders regarding their proposed Integrated Development Plan (IDP) for the forthcoming five years. The detailed draft document outlines the CoJ’s intentions for the financial years running from 2022/23 to 2026/27, and includes related budget and draft tariff information.

A series of Region-specific meetings will be held, with hybrid meetings combining in-person attendance and virtual access. Region C stakeholders will have their chance on Saturday April 30 from 10:00 at Roodepoort City Hall for in-person attendees. For those wishing to access the virtual meetings, a scannable QR barcode is available on the CoJ website in the 2022 public notices section.

The core of the CoJ’s future outlook revolves around seven key priorities. In order, with each creating the circumstance for the next to thrive, the seven priorities are: A city that gets the basics right; a safe and secure city; a caring city, a business-friendly city; an inclusive city; a well-run city; and finally, a smart city. A buffet of graphs, statistics and maps, the draft IDP gives a detailed look at the challenges facing the City and the multi-party government’s ideas on how to overcome them.
Page 235 lists an entity-specific draft budget allocation with page 253 of the 299-page document detailing the proposed projects in Region C for the next three years. Comments on all the draft IDPs can be forwarded in writing to idpinputs@joburg.org.za while comments on the Draft Budget and proposed Tariffs can be forwarded in writing to Budgetinputs@joburg.org.za. All comments should be sent on or before April 30, and a full copy of the draft can be found on the City of Johannesburg website, or by clicking this link joburg.org.za/documents_/Documents/2022-27%20Draft%20IDP/2022-27%20Draft%20Integrated%20Development%20Plan.pdf.
