City Power repairs underway in numerous areas

Repairs are expected to begin today at the Peter Road substation after cables had been stolen.

Repairs were expected to start today, April 29 at the Peter Road substation after cable theft caused an outage yesterday.

According to a statement by City Power, areas that had been affected include Wilgeheuwel, Florin Road, Little Falls and Ruimsig.

“Due to the magnitude of the damage, repairs will be executed by the day shift on April 29.” Updates on restoration are expected later.

The cause of the power outage in Little Falls and Ruimsig has not been determined as yet. The electricity supplier said it would be determined upon their team’s arrival at the scene. As a result an estimated time for restoration has not been determined.

The electricity supplier said additional material had been sent to the site where repairs would be done.
