Parkies soccer teams let their feet do the talking

The boys first soccer team had a hard game but won their match 3–2 with Nathan Vuma named as the player of the match.

While some soccer players dream about goals to secure satisfying victories for their teams, Florida Park High School soccer teams make them.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Parkies learners missed out on a lot of sport, and the excitement and enthusiasm were evident when they hosted South Hills Secondary School on Thursday, May 19.

The home teams had a good start on the day with the first clash being the Girls soccer team that took no prisoners and stamped their authority from the first whistle, despite the ‘never say die’ attitude of their opponents.

The next match was between the junior sides of both schools who reminded their coaches that the sport indeed had a bright future.

The two teams provided the expected fireworks and managed to score one goal apiece that saw them share the spoils at the final whistle.

According to the school’s Director of Sports, Jocelyn Keyter, Parkies is looking forward to a good season of soccer as this is only the beginning. They wish to record one of their best seasons.

“Our passionate coaches, Mr Lebitsa, Mr Tsotetsi, Mr Moloi, Mr Jacobs and their team of conditioning trainers are a great inspiration to the boys and girls, guiding them not only on the field, but off the field, in academic performance and good discipline,” said Jocelyn.
