Help24 warms hearts and bodies

'We mainly focused on the Florida and Maraisburg areas because many sleep there on the streets,'

As much as we love the cold season for its hot chocolate and warm fireplaces, we’ve all felt the sting of a cold winter’s day. In an effort to help others escape the chill, several Help24 units recently took on their first-ever Blanket Drive.

During the evening of Thursday, May 26 officials from Help24’s sales, medical and tactical response units gathered in Florida with the shared vision of warming a few hearts in need.

“We mainly focused on the Florida and Maraisburg areas because many sleep there on the streets. We drove around and distributed the blankets to those who need some warmth,” organisers Quentin Swart and Zelda Mulder explained.

With generous donations from the community and Help24 staff, they managed to distribute around 100 blankets.

“Although the recipients were so thankful for those blankets it was so sad to see. To give back to the community and helping those in need certainly go a long way. We would like to thank all the staff who helped handing out the blankets,” they concluded.
