Roodepoort U/18 clinch Diadora Jozi Cup final
While Michael Holmes was the most impressive with the bat, the rest of the Old Edwardians batsmen struggled.
Sunday, June 19 saw the Roodepoort Cricket Club U/18s battle it out against the Old Edwardians U18s in a beautiful day of cricket at the Imperial Wanderers Stadium where a good crowd gathered for the last few games of the inaugural Diadora Jozi Cup.
The business end of the season was poised for an exciting finish as both sides showed class in the final two matches leading up to the finals.


Roodepoort won the toss and elected to bowl. Old Edwardians took the bat and managed to score 121 runs all out in 16.3 overs.
The first wicket to fall was that of Reuben du Toit who only faced four balls, and was shortly followed by Jordan Gamsy from an LBW.
While Michael Holmes was the most impressive with the bat, the rest of the Old Edwardians batsmen struggled.
Outstanding bowling from Joshua Meyer paved the way for Roodepoort to limit the opponents’ batting line-up.
The Roodepoort side responded by scoring 122 runs for two wickets in 16.1 overs which was enough for them to win the final match.

Michael scored 38 runs from 23 balls not out, while Savar Komal scored 19 runs from 13 balls before he was caught.
Joshua was named the player of the match because of his outstanding bowling that played a big role in his side’s victory.
