NPR parents have fun in the classroom

“Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students, and enthusiastic parents with high expectations.” — Bob Beauprez.

This term, Nova Pioneer Ruimsig planned a plethora of activities for parents to join them on campus.

“We were very committed to providing our parents with as many as possible opportunities to spend time on campus, engage with the teachers, and learn more about our learning model. It has been unfortunate that Covid-19 limited interactions with parents,” explained Carla Hercules.

“We are very passionate about forging healthy, long-term relationships with our parents as we believe relationships are the cornerstone of a school’s success.”

They started off the term by hosting their first inter-house athletics sports event. Parents were very keen to support their children as the sports houses competed against each other. The highlight of the morning was seeing all the parents and teachers participate in their own races.

“We organised a range of activities, such as inviting parents to spend each Friday morning with their children in the class. Our teachers provided a classroom experience for our parents as they presented art, coding and science lessons to both the parents and students. Parents thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their children in class as well as getting a deeper understanding of the concepts that we teach,” continued Hercules.

“It was wonderful to see the close relationships between parents and their children as they worked together. Our Grade 4 students organised a market day. Parents helped their children with ideas for their market, took them shopping over the weekends, and even spent the morning at school to help set up the stalls. We also had a solar system art exhibition, where students had the pleasure of showing their beautiful work to their parents. The parents were even treated to a virtual reality experience in our galaxy. It was an incredibly busy and fun-filled term and we are very grateful to our parents for their support and full attendance at all our events and functions.”
