Crawford International Ruimsig had an exciting new facility added to the campus recently – their brand-new Innovation Station.

“The Innovation Station is going to open many doors for our students during their educational journey. This room can connect our students globally from the safety of our campus. We can connect with schools across the world, have virtual tours through museums, aquariums and national parks, as well as connect with educational and professional speakers. The possibilities are endless!”
Unique features of the Innovation Station include 3D printers, drones, laptops, iPads, functional and comfortable seating, as well as a clever touch screen that can be tilted into an interactive table. Students will learn how to use all the equipment in the centre and even learn how to code.

The furniture in this room has been beautifully designed, creating an exciting and motivating environment for the students. The furniture pieces have been placed strategically and thoughtfully to assist and encourage group collaboration amongst the students, all of whom will have access to this room in the afternoons. It can be used as a study centre, a homework and assignment room, or just a peaceful and comfortable environment to relax in after school.

On Tuesday, August 2 Crawford celebrated the launch of their Innovation Station.
“We thanked the outgoing Maragon PTA who sponsored this breathtaking room for our campus. Some of the PTA parents and our Executive staff joined us for a dinner and activities, and we showed off the room’s capabilities. Our Preparatory Principal, Gillian Steyn, viewed a lesson in the Grade 7 visual arts class taught by Mathilda Tredoux, based on Botanical Art.”
During the launch evening they showed off their Grade 7 artwork and their unit of inquiry, while also live-streaming with Sean Ingles from Grootbos Nature Reserve via Teams. Ingles is the General Manager at Grootbos in De Kelders in the Western Cape.

“From our whole Crawford Ruimsig family, we would like to say a huge thank you to the outgoing PTA for making this addition to our campus possible. We look forward to the many amazing connections and experiences that are going to happen in our Innovation Station,” concluded the Crawford team.
