Florida Clinic maternity ward closed

'Staffing issues' prompt closure of closure of maternity ward

Florida — The new Maternity Unit at Florida Clinic in Madeline Street has been temporarily closed due to staffing issues.

The maternity units opened its doors on December 1, only to experience a shortage of staff shortly before the new year.

According to Ward 70 councillor Caleb Finn, the unit closed on December 30, and an update on the reopening will be provided in due course.

In the meantime, those requiring assistance are advised to visit the Discovery Healthcare Centre (the old Discoverer’s Hospital) located on Nourse Street.

The Roodepoort Record has approached the provincial Health Department for further information. Their comments will be added once received.
