United for greener pastures
Kwena Square joined forces with FullFlame Church, LIFCO, and various organisations for a successful clean-up on Hendrik Potgieter Road.
Teamwork makes the dream work in this heartwarming display of community members working together to make a difference.

Kwena Square became a hub of positivity with members of FullFlame Church, Little Falls and Strubens Valley Resident’s Association (LIFCO) and Kia Weltevreden Park, coming together with more than 100 volunteers to tackle the issue of litter and the uncut grass on Hendrik Potgieter Road on Saturday, March 22.

The clean-up saw volunteers bring their brooms, trash bags, grass cutting machines, and a shared determination to clean up the area.

Clinton Walsh, the pastor at FullFlame Church, explained how the clean-up started in 2023 as an initiative by the church and volunteers to be a blessing to the community. The initiative later became successful with residents associations and organisations joining in.

“The beauty of working together came alive when our clean-ups started to grow, and that is when we realised we need to do more because the little we do can make a huge difference,” Walsh said.
As the volunteers worked tirelessly to pick up litter, skoffel the pavement, and sweep the streets, they were fuelled by snacks from a breakfast platter sponsored by Vaagh Strubens Valley.

The event also received critical support from Beagle Watch Armed Response, which provided security and medical standby services, while the JMPD ensured smooth traffic flow.
“We are so thankful for everyone who volunteered to assist today. Our group noticeably increased from our previous cleanups, with more residents and organisations offering to assist and be a part of this great initiative. If we continue to play our part in working together to ensure our communities are taken care of, we will succeed,” Walsh adds.

Volunteers were thanked for their hard work with a goodie bag from Decathlon. As the volunteers look to continue their efforts, they remain committed to creating cleaner, greener, and more sustainable areas for all residents within their communities.
