Stories come to life at Weltevreden Park library

Children and parents had fun at the library school holiday programme.

As the school holidays end and learners are ironing their uniforms and polishing their shoes, a few children, along with their parents, spent their last remaining days at the Weltevreden Park Community Library, where they attended a holiday programme involving a variety of fun and innovative activities.

Led by senior librarian Gwyneth Perry, the programme included a puppet show, a fun story time which engaged the little ones, followed by a fun-filled Easter egg hunt where the children were divided into groups to find as many yummy eggs as they possibly could.

“We host these holiday programmes mostly on government school holidays, and it gives the children a chance to get out of the house and participate in these activities to stimulate their minds and have fun.

“On April 7, we had our last programme where we had a professional storyteller tell stories to the children who later took part and enjoyed a picnic at the library,” Gwyneth says.

After the fun and active Easter egg hunt, the children also received some treats and a chance to each read a book of their choice.
