Water restored at Fleurhof Primary School
The school did not have water for two weeks, and parents rallied outside the school demanding answers.
Last week, the Roodepoort Record reported on water issues at Fleurhof Primary School.
On May 15, parents of the school rallied outside the school demanding answers from the Department of Education, as the school hasn’t had water for almost two weeks. The school’s water woes not only disrupted learning hours but also the school’s feeding scheme and ablution facilities.

The department’s spokesperson, Steve Mabona, confirmed that the water was restored at the school.
“The department is aware of the situation at Fleurhof Primary School. Consequently, the department is in constant communication with the municipality to ensure that water is restored at the school accordingly.
“It must be noted that the school has a catch-up plan that involves extra classes being conducted that will mitigate the risk to academic performance, including overall learner well-being. Once the school is back to normal with water supply, other support structures will be deployed to mitigate all challenges.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and intervene accordingly,” he said.
