The SANBS plays an important role in collecting and distributing blood to hospitals across the country, and dozens of people came out to give the gift of life.

According to SANBS, blood donations are crucial for patients in need of transfusions due to surgery, illness, or injury. In South Africa, SANBS collects over 800 000 units of blood annually, with each and saving up to three lives, but the demand for blood remains high.

Those who came out to donate their blood were united by a shared desire to help others. Many first-time donors expressed their fear of needles, but the medical professionals welcomed and assisted the donors throughout the process, ensuring their safety and comfort.

People who would like to know how they can donate blood or find out more about community outreaches can visit the SANBS website www.sanbs.org.za.
