Career fair shines light on student’s future jobs

This type of event does not only provides access to job opportunities, but also equips students with the tools and confidence to navigate life after graduation.

The IIE MSA recently hosted a career fair, providing students with a platform to connect with recruiters, polish their CVs, and plan their paths to future careers. The event, organised by the institution’s Career Services division, aimed to bridge the gap between students and the working world.

According to MSA’s public relations and events coordinator Khanyisile Ndabambi, over 20 well-known business organisations like the South African Red Cross Society, Standard Bank, and ABSA participated in the fair and offered a range of career and internship opportunities, drawing in a large number of keen students from the different faculties.

The CV and LinkedIn Review Café, where students received personalised feedback from industry professionals, was the highlight of the day, with many attendees of the fair saying it was both eye-opening and empowering.

“It was a unique opportunity for me to sit down with company representatives. It created an engaging experience, and I found it valuable,” shared Beyoncé Mwale, a third-year Bachelor of Social Sciences student at the campus.

Throughout the day, the campus atmosphere was filled with activity as students gained clarity about their career opportunities, gathered valuable advice, and developed professional connections that could shape their futures.

From casual conversations with recruiters to structured guidance sessions, the fair was more than just a networking event, it was a practical stepping stone into the world of work.

As the event came to a close, students left feeling better informed, more optimistic about the career paths they will venture into after university, and prepared for the challenges and possibilities that lie ahead.
