Residents share how long they keep festive trees standing
Keep the festive cheer after Christmas or take the tree down after New Year’s? Here’s what some West Rand residents had to say.
During the festive season, many put up their Christmas trees and decorate them with ornaments and lights to embrace the holiday spirit. However, when is it too long to leave your Christmas tree up? Here is what residents had to say.
Ntombi Mokabane said, “I usually take my Christmas tree down after New Year’s. I would say leaving the tree up after January is too long, then children still want sweets. By then, you start thinking about going back to school.”

Chantelle Seheri added, “I usually put my tree up on December 19 and take it down after the New Year. Leaving it up after March would be too long.”
Stiena van der Westhuizen shared, “We put our tree up between the end of October and the beginning of November. Leaving the tree up after New Year’s is too long and unnecessary; the festive season is over.”
Kobus Jooste explained, “I don’t put a Christmas tree up, but I would say leaving it up after January 2 is too long.”

Tshegofatso Tlhotlhori stated, “Last year, I put my tree up around December 22, but leaving it up the whole year would be too long.”
Jaco Barnard said, “We put our Christmas tree up at the beginning of November, but I would say leaving it up after March is too long, then you are just lazy.”
JP Louw said, “I put my tree up in November, but I would leave it up all year, just to brighten up my home.”
