Holiday waste hacks you should know
Creatives ways to reuse your Christmas clutter into the new year.
The festive season is filled with joy, food and a lot of wrapping paper. Instead of tossing it all in the dustbin or stuffing it into the drawer, you can turn that festive clutter into functional and fabulous creations.
Here are some eco-friendly hacks you can use to reuse your wrapping paper, gift boxes and gift bags.
1. Gift Bag Rehab Station
Use: Used gift bags, bows, and tags
How: Sort your gift bags into a reuse station – but take it next level: iron out wrinkles, cut off crumpled tags, and re-tie fresh ribbon or new tags.
2. Wrap-and-Frame Wall Art
Use: Elegant or colourful wrapping paper pieces
How: Cut and frame your favourites – or create a collage. You can use it to update the children’s rooms, your offices, or gallery walls with summer holiday vibes.
3. Organise Your Life with Gift Boxes
Use: All those cute (but now empty) gift boxes
How: Use the boxes to sort stationery, accessories, crafts, or school supplies. You can label them with a permanent marker.
4. Turn It into Gift Tags and Greeting Cards
Use: Used cards, boxes, paper scraps
How: Cut wrapping paper or old greeting cards into shapes of your choice. Punch a hole, thread ribbon, and use them as gift tags or bookmarks.
5. DIY Notebooks and Journals
Use: Hard gift boxes, cardboard, wrapping paper
How: Cut gift boxes into covers for mini notebooks. Bind them with glue, staples or string, and use wrapping paper to decorate the covers. These make great to-do list books or even back-to-school journals.
