At Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital we are dedicated to patient-centric care and providing our community with quality, compassionate care when they need hospitalisation.

In line with our continuous focus of improving our facility, our brand new 32-bed surgical ward with en-suite private and semi-private rooms will be opening soon providing our patients with a new and modern healing environment.

We are also proud of our latest technology in robotic surgery, the ROSA-system. The ROSA knee replacement system provides experienced surgeons’ with greater accuracy to ensure knee replacements fit and function precisely.

Robotic surgery has many benefits for the patient such as reduced pain, lower usage of pain relief methods and overall improved knee function, to name a few.  Robotic surgery is linked to shorter hospital stays, meaning you can get back on your feet sooner to do the things that make you feel alive.

“We are excited to announce that we are now also able to commence hip replacement surgery with the new ROSA system.  Dr Davis, Orthopaedic Surgeon, has been specifically trained to use the ROSA system to perform hip replacement surgeries, with the rest of our orthopaedic surgeons to complete the same rigorous training soon,” says Adri Botes, hospital manager.

The ROSA system provides the surgeon with a 3D model so they can accurately plan every step of the procedure. By knowing what to expect, the orthopaedic surgeons can predetermine the best fit of the implant to give patients the best possible outcomes.

Yet another way of making life better for the community we serve.

“Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital is more than bricks and mortar: it forms part of the local community, delivering expert healthcare far beyond hospital walls.

“Thoughtful care goes a long way, so we aim to leave a lasting impression of meeting our patients’ needs, and really listening to them. Our purpose is making life better and improving the lives of others is in our genes,” Botes concluded.
