AUTO24 hosts successful blood donation drive

The donors were excited to have the opportunity to help save a life by giving their blood knowing that there is someone out there who is in desperate need.

Auto24, in partnership with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS), hosted a successful blood donation drive on Monday, March 24. The event, themed ‘Brake for a Cause – Fuel the Gift of Life!’, encouraged community members to roll up their sleeves and donate blood to help save lives.

The drive ran from 13:00 to 16:00, drawing a steady stream of donors from the staff members who were eager to make a difference. Many first-time donors joined regular contributors, showing the community’s strong commitment to supporting the life-saving work of SANBS.

“At Auto24, we’re big on community outreach, that’s first and foremost how we approach things. We hosted the blood drive just to create community awareness because we know there’s a national shortage, and this is our way of giving back to the community and country at large,” Justin Govender, the marketing and systems development associate, expresses.

According to SANBS, a single blood donation can save up to three lives, making events like these crucial in maintaining blood reserves for hospitals and emergency cases. Auto24’s involvement highlights the growing role of businesses in social responsibility initiatives.

“It is a privilege for us to be able to be involved in these sorts of initiatives,” Justin says.

For those who couldn’t make it to the event, SANBS reminds the public that donation centres are open year-round.

With blood shortages an ongoing challenge, they encourage more people to step forward and donate. To find out where you can donate, visit www.sanbs.org.za or follow SANBS on social media for upcoming drives.
